Open Question: Opinions wanted from writers regarding my story?
Okay so, the story is about my original characters who I've written about before. They work for an underground, organized crime syndicate which bears similarities to the mafia. The two main characters, one female (Meli) and male (Lucas) are partners in crime and share a dysfunctional relationship. They're polar opposites and don't always look eye to eye, although both have increasingly strong feelings for the other deep down. Now for the part I want opinions and advice on. The actual PLOT. You couldn't really call it a plot so far because I haven't even arrive up with a way to start the story. I just have a major idea which I will incorporate into the relax once I arrive up with it. Here it is: Meli meets Len (syndicate boss's son) and they take a shine to each other, their relationship eventually gets intimate and they have casual sex. Meli will later find out she's pregnant from this. Unfortunately, Len isn't the type of guy she thought he was and he abandons her to do “business” abroad for his dad. Meli is not only feeling let-down and used, but also scared about the pregnancy. She confesses to Lucas and, knowing Len won't be back, tells him the baby is his. This is the thing that brings Lucas and Meli together. Lucas doesn't have a clue she's lying, and she doesn't think ahead. Selfishly, every that matters to her is that she has a reliable person here and now to help her through a dilemma. Although she's lied to him about the baby Meli's feelings for Lucas are real. They receive married, in a seedy vegas style chapel, just the two of them (marriage and relationships are forbidden in the syndicate so it's critical they keep their relationship to themselves. Obviously this makes pregnancy forbidden too.) Probably some other stuff will happen, and then later on in the story Meli has a miscarriage. This pretty much tears her heart apart because she'd become so attached to the idea of her and Lucas having this kid and running away from the syndicate to start a new life together. She's an emotional wreck and in her despaired state of mind (she tends to take things out on Lucas and lash out at him for whatever goes wrong in basically everything. She can be a very b*tchy, greedy character in case you hadn't guessed that already haha.) she tells Lucas the baby was never even his, projecting her feelings of despair onto him and hoping he'll feel the pain she's feeling. They arrive to blows big time. Lucas, betrayed, spits words of resentment at her before storming out. And that's what I have so far. Bear in mind that was a very rushed, basic outline. What do you think? Too soap-opera esque? Boring? Cliche? If so, I'd really appreciate tips on how to improve it or add to it. Options, advice, criticism, ideas, anything. Thanks in advance!

Open Question: What do you suggest for how to go about writing a mafia book?
Ok, I don't know if you'll find this weird but I want to write a book with some mafia action. What Idon't want is it to be cheesey and inaccurate and just be another stupid classic stereotypical mob book. I know someone who grew up in Sicily Italy, home of the mob and while he himself was quite uninvolved in the mafia and grew up around people who were involved and does have a lot (a lot a lot) of mob stories to tell. So of course he wasn't part of it but basically he's got a lot of exciting stories about the mob which he did learn a lot about uphis sleeve. However, he's getting older and to my knowledge never was big on writing, so here's what I want: with his permission of course, to just sit down with a tape recorder press play and record him telling his stories. Not often you meet someone as amazing and as grea at story telling as he is so if he's ok with it I want to record his stories annd put his experiences in a book.Thus, I will not be making some corny inaccurate portrayal of the mob with fakey action andputting it in a book. My questions are: 1. Depending on how detailed his stories are how much would I have to change it? I heard a guy wrote a book about a gang he was in once and got out of but had to change every the names for security reasons. What wouldhave to be changed up? 2. I'mthinking the story should be told by my storytellers point of view. Ye or ne to this idea? 3. What would happen if I got this book published? Is there any risk with the mafia for me it I publish it? Dead serious. I'm kinda worried.If yes, I'm not writing this. 4. Would you read a mafia thriller if it was well written? 5. Should I just forget the idea altogether? I'm still debating. I think his stories from his times in Sicily growing up would be amazing and people other than I would thoroughly like them too but I'm still not sure if this is a good idea or not. Thanks guys! It started with a boy starting college in New York, and a guy steals his stuff. The boy starts his studies in film at the college and meets the guy again, and the guy introduces him to a Mafia leader. I think the title had the word class in it. Thanks to any answers.

Open Question: Help planning my Masquerade Themed party?
Alright, my sweet sixteen is in July and I am going to be using my Church for my party. It's going to be masquerade and butterfly themed. xD I don't want to have a ball but there'll be some music playing (modern) and whoever wants to dance is welcome to. We're trying to arrive up with some games that are sort of masquerade themed (the butterfly is mostly for deco because i adore butterflies). We're thinking games like guess how many in the jar guess who i am (famous characters) Masked taste test clip throat mafia games where you are guessing at something. Any more ideas? The Church sanctuary is really big but the ceilings are really high. Any ideas for decorations? We have some thoughts but is there a way we can decorate more than just the walls? any ideas for food? we were thinking pizza snacks and little snacky finger foods that are nice of teenager/modern but finger food/masquerade at the same time. Open Question: How many save slots are there in LA Noire?
I have recently played MAFIA 2. In the story mode there is only car keep. But unlike other games there is no keep slot. Either I can Load from the last keep or Load a chapter and play from the start if the chapter(There will be many saves within a chapter). Is this the case with LA Noire or can two or more players play together without disturbing the other players keep. I also heard that there is only car keep in the game. Will there be any keep in between cases?

Open Question: What makes the British Royal family Royal?
I've always believed that in some ancient time a man ran to the top of a hill and cried I'm the King of the castle. Another man ran up and shoved a sword through him and said No you're not, I am! And so was born Kings and royalty. In other words, so-called Royalty was nothing more than the result of murder and pillage and plunder. Now think about this for a moment. If the Mafia is a criminal enterprise, and if the Mafia existed for another 1000 years, would they be regarded as legitimate? Would they no longer be seen as criminals? Would heads of state bow to them, and offer up parades in their honour? Well, I hardly think it likely. If that's true, then how is it that we accept the British Royal family as legitimate, and we don't look them as criminals, and that heads of state bow to them, and offer up parades in their honour? Why is their position and their wealth not seen as the result of criminal acts 1000 years ago? It seems rather odd to me.

Open Question: Dawkins' arguments are out of date?
I've seen a few answers saying that Dawkin's arguments are out of date for modern theism and atheism arguments. I fail to look how a theological argument can become out of date, unless disproved... And Dawkins' arguments and observations have not been disproved (For the most part). He explains the god of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in every of fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.' This has got to be one of the most accurate quotes I have ever heard, and you can't disprove it. So it's arguable that he does good things for those who do the right things? So do Cartel leaders and the Mafia. I fail to look how an argument valid on a subject 1000 years ago cannot be valid now. It's the same book, right? Inspired by the same god? It's every still true? Are you saying that God has changed his mind about something? That means he was either wrong before, or he is wrong now.. Thus he is flawed, and thus he is not God. It's obvious that God is second to Voldemort; it is redundant to say so. Ex Arcam, your statement sort of support Atheism, by saying that it's humanity's perception of god. However.. If I go on a mass killing spree of dozens of people, and then keep the lives of thousands of people.. I've still killed a lot of people, and I'm still 'bad'. A true christian should believe that the entire bible is true, because it was every inspired by God ect.. I'm an atheist. By a true christian, I mean a christian who doesn't cherry pick the bits of the bible they like, and ignore the other bits. What gives then the right to say that certain parts are true and others are not?

Seventeen years old, and already a killer. A professional sniper, no less. He gazed, in that silent, intense way, at the rifle. Oh yes, this was beautiful. Lusty and dark, the weapon glinted just a little in the low light. Visibility was bad, but that wasn't really a problem. His eyes went back up to the Maker. Five hundred thousand dollars. No negotiation. The sun was setting into the sea, and the other man exhaled. Forget it, he snapped, shoving the weapon into its case and stuffing it in the back seat of the van. I can receive a better sniper for less than half the price. The boy didn't stir, but his eyes narrowed in a look that shouldn't have been there on a face so young. You can't. No, of course not, the Maker joked, sarcasm dripping from his tone. A kid with a gun can kill the senator's daughter, but not a prof-- The handgun held itself firmly against the Maker's temple. The boy smirked. Five hundred thousand dollars and the job, or I shoot. It was pure gall. That was the only thing that convinced the Mafia boss. The Maker stared directly into the younger's eyes. It would be a real shame for a man of your stature to die at the hands of...a mere boy, the sniper finished calmly. At this moment, it was difficult to decide who was the real leader. I'm armed, the Maker replied simply. But it wasn't a threat, just a statement. A tiny silence began, and ended only when he said, But I like you. No you don't, the sniper grinned. The hand holding the revolver lowered, and instead went for the rifle on the car seat. She'll be dead by this time tomorrow. I expect my money by then. With a style closer to confidence than arrogance, the boy snatched the rifle. The sun had completely set. This is actually just an extract copied right out of the Word document, but I do think you have a point. I've explained the setting and stuff in the story, but I guess I should've posted that. Oh well. They're on a lonely beach. The sun is setting, and they're standing by a white van. The Mafia boss' name is a mystery. People refer to him as 'The Maker'. I'm sorry I can't reveal the sniper's name, because I'm not really comfortable with doing that over the internet. Thanks for the feedback :)

Im getting 350$ from my mom here in about 4 days and dont know what to receive I already have an Xbox 360 Arcade Model (60gb) and 17 games I would like to receive MW3 for the Xbox 360 and a turtle beach headset and Skyrim and Mafia II and a few other games as well but I also would like to receive a Ps3 slim or fat it doesn't matter to me and a few games my old PSN account has 2 games on it, LBP, inFamous OR I could receive a Xbox 360 MW3 slim edition and sell my arcade model im just looking for your opinions OR facts about which is better i dont even have my 350$ yet but its burning a hole in my pocket already btw this is my tardy Christmas gifts so your wasting your time telling me to keep my money lol

Open Question: How can you tell when a guy likes you or is flirting with you?
Let let me be frank: I'm clueless about guys.I met a guy this summer and we really connected, but nothing totally happened even though it felt like something was there. But we live an hour apart, and so its difficult. was at this retreat and we were playing cutthroat mafia in this creepy lodge and every the lights were out and I was freaking out. And he's was like, 'well, I'm hiding in a room. You want to arrive and hide with me?' and so I said yeah and as soon as the lights went out again he took my hand and led me to the room he had been hiding in and he sat me next to him on the bed and didn't let go of my hand which was surprising and that happened a few times. Gahhh. And I think there was flirting that happened and now I'm confused gosh darn it.

Open Question: Is true that Ameicans think Italians are..?
Reading something on intenet, i've knonw that Americans think Italians are dark-skinned, that Italians are mafiosi, and that we eat pasta and pizza , more over that Italians are tiny , with black and curly hair ? XD If it's true this is so ridicuolus... in Europe , more over is said that Americans don't know where Italia and other nations are located... Last year i went to bruxelles and i met two Americans , and when they understood that i was italian they said to me pasta, pizza, mafia ..and that Italy is close the equator?? O.o I hardly ever look a dark-skinned italian, and i live in South Italy... When i watch TV sometimes i watch the famous cartoon The Simpson..and in this programme italians talk the dialect of Naples, but in Italy there are a lot of dialects, for example, in the north of Italy people talk german and french dialects... in the South Italy people speach french and greek and Albanian dialects!! *known * talk Sorry for the mistakes!

I live in Kansas City and have got to say..the tune Family/Clan the ruling Asian crime family here are very noble and non-violent. Perhaps it is because I'm a pure-blooded Korean and know alot about Korean career criminals...from studying. every they do is launder money, kidnap Russian and Korean women clubs as sex slaves visited by Blacks and Koreans, lend loans, and are very involved in drug trafficking..so I have got to say they are good people (compared to Italian and Mexican/Black gangs).
